What is Japan Arts Matsuri?
Japan Arts Matsuri is the performing art festival that relates to the Japanese artists or the Japanese culture. Our goal is to support the Japanese art culture and tradition through the live performances or exhibitions. It brings together the Japanese artists who have different background and experience in NYC. Japan Arts Matsuri may feature activities such as:
•  Performances that depict the experience of cultural exchange;
•  Every year we select the most innovative, powerful, and energetic artists;
•  Opportunity for non-Japanese audiences to experience the nostalgic Japanese tradition;

Why Japan Arts Matsuri?
As we live in this melting pot of race, New York City, we have so many opportunities to experience other cultures in the everyday living. However, we'd like to appeal our Japanese identity by presenting the performing arts. There would be the novel and quite unconventional Japanese arts from NYC, and also the great collaborations of traditional and new style. People would enjoy this festival without distinction of age, sex, or race.
The Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs has identified the efforts of Japan Arts Matsuri, and Faune Dance Troupe had been invited to participate in the Immigrant History Week since 2005, coordinated by The Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs in April.

The goal of Japan Arts Matsuri:
We would provide a place where all the talents from Japan would meet, and share their common interest. We hope that this festival of ours would generate inspirations for the art scene globally. The artists and audiences might all speak a different language, but we believe that art is something universal. However, it is very rare for people to enjoy the art produced by the cultures that are foreign to them. We believe this would be a chance for the artists to gather and present their material to others, and also for the audiences to enjoy and discover various styles of art and culture.
